Paris stays up all night to celebrate contemporary art across the city.
PARIS, FRANCE, September 21, 2011 /Travel PR News/ -- Each year for the past decade, Paris has invited some of the finest artists from across the world to create pieces right throughout the city as part of the Nuit Blanche art festival.
Translated as 'Sleepless Night', this gives you some idea of the way this event works. The artwork is created in the build up to the night, and is then opened up to Parisians and tourists alike for a truly magical experience under the stars.
Invited artists create the stunning installations in various areas of the city, including Pigalle, Hotel de Ville and Montmartre.
The October 1st event will be served by the efficient Paris Metro, which will be open late for the night on Line 12 between Madeleine and Port de la Chapelle, and the whole of Line 14.
This year's artists include Vincent Gavinet, Pierre Ardouvin, Semiconductor, BGL and Christian Boltanski, while the event is to be curated by Alexia Fabre and Franck Lamy.
Entrance to all exhibits is free, making this a fantastic way to experience Paris by night.
